While I see the good intentions you have, I don’t get real insights. If you want to show what the real influence of the hobby is show numbers (exported corals per genus vs growth rates or something in that direction), but I guess we would all know the result..
And I have to say some things are a bit ridiculous, 2 times a year planting corals back and 363 times harvesting them, sounds a bit like eating 1 week per year vegan to promote animal rights.
Nope maybe you have to watch the video again. It is right, that they bring motheranimals from the farm to the reefs „only“ two times a year. But also the farms itself are creating an environment for many species permanently.
@Seafriendlyreef and those “environments” are processed later to harvest corals again, right? My point is just that I think we don’t need to greenwash our hobby. It’s like driving a car (even electric ones), we all accept that it’s not good for the environment no matter how you turn it but we still do it and I think it’s the same with reefing. It’s not nice to take fish and corals from tropical waters and we would be better off if we don’t do it. But we (or I) still do it, because for the love of the hobby. What we should rather do is to take a conscious decision on which coral and what fish are we buying, instead of trying to make it look like it has a positive impact on the environment.
